And so it began…
Upper House has been my family home for 20 years. I started hosting weddings here when a friend of mine died in and his daughter got engaged shortly afterwards – she wanted a castle wedding so it seemed natural to offer her the place. A couple of years later a guest at that wedding approached us and we found ourselves thoroughly enjoying the process of their big day – there’s nothing like an approaching wedding to make you get all those jobs done in the garden!
I have always enjoyed hosting events, and owning a house like Upper House certainly develops those skills. I feel the house enjoys it too. As a former hunting lodge, the house was built to host guests, and it is wonderful to see it fulfilling that function. Everyone seems to feel at ease here – mountain energy never seems to tire and I don’t worry about the place becoming jaded with all this activity – all this positive wedding energy just adds to the vibe!
The place is staffed with family and friends, and there is nothing like a happy team to give that extra dimension to a wedding. Our clients and their guests always remark on the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff – Upper House really is a home from home.
We are proud that the business helps to keep this amazing building, and the beautiful woodlands maintained for the people and wildlife who love to visit!
